No lines. No forms. No waiting rooms. Just volunteers walking downtown Gainesville, bag in hand, making sure no neighbor goes hungry or thirsty. In the Florida heat, dehydration is just as real as hunger.
Feed the Need is street outreach. We do not run a warehouse. We do not hand out numbers. We walk.
Our volunteers know the corners, the benches, the doorways. We show up with food, water, and dignity. No questions asked, no ID required.
If you are hungry in downtown Gainesville, you do not find us. We find you.
Volunteers assemble bags with shelf-stable meals, fresh fruit, water, and snacks. Everything is ready to hand off in seconds.
Teams of two or three hit the streets on foot. Downtown corridors, parks, bus stops, and the places people gather.
We offer. We listen. We do not preach. If someone needs food, they get food. If they need water, they get water. In Gainesville heat, that water can save a life. Simple.
“We don't wait for people to come to us. We go to them.”
We are always looking for people who believe in showing up. Here is how you can join the outreach.
Be on the ground. Carry the bags. Meet the people. We walk in teams, and we will pair you with experienced volunteers your first time out.
